TalkBank is a new research project whose goal is to foster fundamental research in the study of human and animal communication by providing standards and tools for creating, searching, and publishing primary linguistic materials on the Internet. The project grows out of the experience with CHILDES and LDC corpora, and aims to support the methodologies and notations of a broad range of disciplines including: classroom discourse, conversation analysis, discourse, language acquisition, gesture, signed languages, ethology, anthropology, field linguistics, speech analysis. TalkBank is using the ATLAS model.
