ELAN (EUDICO Linguistic Annotator) is a tool for multi-level annotation of video and/or audio, developed by the Max-Planck-Institute (MPI) in Nijmegen. ELAN is written in JAVA and will run on Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems. ELAN uses a time-based data model and an XML format. One important user community is the endangered languages community (cf. the DOBES projects and E-MELD)
